This morning my six year old tells me:
"I think you're a mom without a mind. It's a saying I just made up."
Now I wonder where on earth she got that from? My daily mumblings about this or that which may or may not make sense? Makes perfect sense in my mind, but it would appear there may be some sort of disconnect between my thoughts and my lips. Overload, perhaps? I remember the days of young when I used to complete or correct my own mother's sentences. I suppose the 'syndrome' has been passed on to me to provide a giggle for my own mother as I was convinced I would always be able to complete sentences and use the correct words ('though my one sister, who would often correct my grammar, may beg to differ).
Life has it's funny ways of turning us into what we were youngly convinced we would never become or causing us to behave in ways we were wrongly convinced we would never behave (and yes, dear children, that is BEHAVE not BEEHIVE).
And so the quest for tranquility in the mind continues... When the Lord beckons me to His side during those quiet moments of the day (or perhaps to steal away upstairs during those hectic-boisterous-kids-days) I will strive to respond; knowing that it is in His Presence and His Presence alone that tranquility can be found.
May the Lord bless you this Christmas season. May He bless you with the Peace and Joy of His Presence as we prepare our home and our hearts to offer our own presence of love and laughter to those around us.
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the present of Your Presence in my daily life. I thank You for the safety of my husband and my children. I thank You for our need of joy and hope which was met in You the moment of Your birth some 2000 years ago. I thank You for Your gift of Life, Love and Joy today.
"My peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you." John 14:27a
