My Morning Meal

When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, "Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch. Simon answered and said, "Master, we worked hard all night and caught nothing, but I will do as You say and let down the net.
When they had done this, they enclosed a great quantity of fish, and their nets began to break; so they signaled to their partners in the other boat for them to come and help them. And they came and filled both of the boats, so that they began to sink. Luke 5:4-7

I began to read an Oswald Chambers devotional this morning, which included a discussion about a certain passage. I grabbed my Bible to first read the passage Oswald mentioned before continuing. Although the passage I read seemed applicable, I realized I had once again transposed numbers and read an entirely different passage than the one mentioned in the devotional.

But isn't God just like that sometimes? The passage I read (and a portion of it which I quoted above from the NASB version) spoke immediately to my heart. If Christ asks us to drop our nets in exactly the same spot we'd been fishing all night, who are we to say there are not any fish? Not only is Christ the Commander and Creator of all things, He is also the One who knows man's heart and its readiness.

The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest." Matthew 9:37, 38
