Hosannah - oh Hosannah in the Highest!
My heart aches for you in this tempest we call life
When we wonder where you are and as we stretch our minds to understand the depth of your love for us
When we sit under the oak tree sifting wheat in a winepress hiding from our enemies
We call out to You
Hosannah, Abba, Great and Mighty God
In Your kindness and mercy You reveal Yourself to us
You tell us You are with us
You reassure us with Your Presence
You call us mighty man and mighty woman of valor
You see us through clear and sinless eyes
You are God
You are awesome, tender, strong and great
These words I type - so simple - so meaningless in comparison to the greatness of who You are
You see my heart
You see my life
You know the words I'd like to use...
Poetic words
Words pregnant with meaning...
You are God
You are the True Friend to all who call on You
You are the One Good Shepherd
The Shepherd who never leaves His flock
You eat with us, You sleep with us, You walk with us, You protect us from all harm
Do we understand what a shepherd is in these modern times?
In our modern world that is often void of honest and intimate friendship?
In Biblical Old Testament we read stories of the shepherd boy, David
Stories of how he placed himeself in harms way to protect his sheep
David - a forshadow of Christ to come
In Biblical New Testament we read of Your promise to never leave us,
But to be with us to the very ends of the world as we go out to make disciples
You never leave us.
You are not only our One True Friend,
But our Shepherd, who in ever tending His flock becomes the ultimate lamb
The lamb that takes away the sins of the world
You sacrifice Yourself - only to take up Your life again in the only way none other can do
That we may be saved.
From every tribe
tongue
people
and nation
You purchased man by Your blood
And I say thank You,
I sing songs of thanksgiving to You my King
My king who's love I cannot fully comprehend
But love I am ever thankful for
I love you, Jesus
